This module covers the definition of and practical approach to Fitness and Conditioning, the Components of Fitness and the Principles of Training and how they apply in to sports in general.
This module examines Stamina Training in generaland the importance of a multi-sprint stamina and strength endurance approach to the whole concept of endurance development for a range of field and court sports.
This module covers the importance of speed and agility in all sports particularly in field and court sports. It looks at the various methods that can be used to make athletes and players quicker off the mark and faster on the field, court, or track.
Module 4 examines the whole area of Resistance and Strength Training. It delves into the improvement they can add to the sport participant’s fitness and play. It also uncovers how they can make athletes and players more reactive, quicker and faster moving on the field, court, or on the track.
This module covers the rationale behind fitness testing. It demonstrates a wide range of capacity tests. It teaches the strength and conditioning coach how to evaluate and administer the most suitable tests for the facilities available and for a wide range of sports.
Module 6 covers all the content that the strength and conditioning coach will need to advise his/her athletes and players how to prepare for and recover from training and games in terms of their nutritional and hydration needs.
In this module we look at how best to prepare and plan the yearly training and competition programme. We study various forms of periodisation methods and lead the strength and conditioning coach to implement the best practice in relation to ensuring athletes and player achieve peak fitness at the appropriate time of the year.

This module is optional and is open to all students who wish to achieve the award for the overall SAQ® Diploma in Strength and Conditioning for Sport and Fitness. A written 2500 word assignment is prescribed and must be completed within 4 weeks. Guidelines on how to undertake the task are given.
