Upon completion of this course the learner will:

CERTIFICATE CONTENT
The course content of This certificate covers Fitness, Conditioning and Methods that can assist us to prepare specific training programmes for individual clients, athletes and teams.The course starts by examining a very brief history of fitness and sport and how it has developed into a major industry.

We then move on quickly to look at general fitness, fitness for health and eventually look at fitness for clients and those who participate in sport. The object of any programme of physical fitness is to maximise an individual’s health, strength, endurance, speed and skill relative to age, sex, body build, and physiology. These ends can only be realised through conscientious regulation of exercise, rest, diet, and games. Exercise should be regular and vigorous, but begun slowly and only gradually increased in strenuousness.

Conditioning is the process by which we get people fit and this is the topic we examine next.

The next topic looks at all the various components of fitness and importantly how they apply to sport in general and to specific sports in particular. Each of these topics will be covered in more detail in each of the following lectures.

The course is completed by an in-depth look at the key Principles of Training
When one trains a clients or work with an athlete or sports team there is no denying that enthusiasm is great advantage to have as a leader or instructor. However, it must be tempered with the knowledge of certain training principles that will enable the team and the players to develop safely and to an optimal level. These are what we call the principles of training and they are a few fundamental values or doctrine of exercise that must be adhered to in order to progress safely and effectively with any exercise plan. Furthermore, it would be impossible to truly understand the definition of fitness without the inclusion of these essential principles.
